Toy Guidelines

A helpful guide on types of toys, materials, capabilities, lubrication types and more.

Vibration

    • Buzzy – typically less discreet sounding, felt through upper layers of dermis, can be mild to very powerful, great for maximum stimulation
    • Rumbly- very discreet sounding, felt deeper through layers of dermis, can be mild to medium power, great for less intense stimulation

Water Resistance

    • Water Resistant/Waterproof/Splashproof– safe for proper cleaning techniques only
    • Submersible – safe to be completely submerged in a few feet of water such as a bathtub

Length

the total length of the device (may vary slightly from manufacturers description)

  • Insertable length – the length intended to be inserted into the body (not including handles, bases, etc.)


Material

    • ABS Hard Plastic – hard, ungiving material, medium life span, risk of cracking, safe with water based or silicone lubricant **Life span: 3-9 months
    • TPE/TPR – flexible, very giving material, risk of cracking, safe with water based lubricant, NOT safe with silicone lubricant **Life span: 3-9 months
    • Silicone – varies in texture and give in material, can be manufactured at a medical grade level, safe with water based lubricants, NOT safe with most silicone lubricants* **Life span: 1-2 years
    • Dual Core – hard silicone inner layer with softer silicone outer layer, most realistic feel, safe with water based lubricants, NOT safe with most silicone lubricants* **Life span: 9-18 months
    • Metal – hard, ungiving material, safe with water based or silicone lubricant **Life span: 2 years+
    • Glass  – hard, ungiving material, safe with water based or silicone lubricant **Life span: 2+ years (unless chipped)

Lubrication

      • Water based – lubrication that may absorb into the skin over time, requires reapplication, safe with all toys and condoms
      • Silicone – lubrication that sits on top of the skin, requires little to no reapplication, NOT safe with most toys and condoms*
      • Hybrid – a mix of silicone and water based lubricants, little to not reapplication, NOT safe with toys and condoms
      • Oil Based – oil based lubricant, controversial for internal use, NOT safe with toys and condoms, may affect vaginal Ph 
      • Flavored – water based lubricant with flavors and natural or artificial sweeteners, for oral use only! May affect vaginal Ph

*Medical grade silicones may be used with other medical silicones when sanitized properly. Check item descriptions to verify if your product is medical grade.

**Life Span – the maximum amount of time a toy should be used with proper cleaning techniques before replacing or upgrading, implies the amount a toy can be sanitized.
